| Objective:To investigate the spectrum of chronic renal failure (CRF) in Beijing and its surrounding areas. Methods:A prospective investigation of hospitalized patients with CRF in the nephrology division ward of China-Japan friendship hospital from January 2009 to December 2010.Results:The total number of hospitalized patients is 2155 during the two years, the number of patients with CRF is 956, including 527 male patients and 429 female patients.670 patients of the total number were from urban districts, accounting for 70.1%, the number of patients from Beijing surrounding areas was 406; while 286 patients from rural areas, accounting for 29.9%.90 cases were in the stage 2 of CKD,228 cases in the stage 3 of CKD,160 cases in the stage 4 of CKD,478 cases in the stage 5 of CKD. The average age of all the patients is 53.8±17.5 years (16-89 years), among which 185 patients were young ((?) 35 years),366 patients were at middle age (36-59 years), and 405 patients were elderly ((?) 60 years). When 691 patients were first diagnosed with CRF,319 petients needed dialysis treatment (254 patients), or peritoneal dialysis (65 patients). Chronic glomerulonephritis was 23.5% in the CRF patients, while diabetic nephropathy 16.7%, hypertensive renal injuries 8.2%, polycystic kidney disease 2.5%, and unknown cause 36.7%.625 patients of the total CRF number combined the treatment of Chinese traditional medicine, accounting for 65.4%. The patients once received dialysis would not take Chinese traditional medicine. Conclusion:The patients with CRF in the study were mainly from city, the majority were middle-aged and elderly patients.33.4% of the patients required renal replacement therapy when firstly administrated, whereas the etiology of CRF was not identified.63.7% of the patients have a combinative treatment with Chinese traditional medicine. |
