| Objective:To discuss the immediate and accumulative effects of electrical plum-blossom needle on pattern-visual evoked potential (P-VEP) before and after treatments with amblyopia children. Methods:After correction of refractive errors,38 amblyopic children (69 eyes) aged from 4 to 12 years old were randomly divided into experimental group and control group each of which were treated by the combination of electrical plum-blossom needle and western medicine (the experimental group) and western medicine(the control group) respectively. The control group underwent P-VEP before and after one treatment course. The experimental group underwent P-VEP respectively before the treatment, after one treatment of electrical plum-blossom needle and after the course of electrical plum-blossom needle treatment combined with comprehensive therapy by western medicine.Results:P-VEP:After one electrical plum-blossom needle treatment, the P100 wave latency of the treatment group was obviously shortened (P<0.05). No significant difference was found in amplitude of P100 wave.Compared with the control group, after one electrical plum-blossom needle treatment, difference value in P100 wave latency of experimental group increased (P<0.05), and no significant difference was found in amplitude of P100 wave. Visual acuity:in the experimental group, among 36 eyes there were 32 eyes (88.9%) can read at least two more visual acuity chart lines than before; in the control group, among 33 eyes there were 24 eyes (72.7%) can read at least two more visual acuity chart lines than before. Conclusion: Electrical plum-blossom needle treatment could shorten P100 wave latency of P-VEP in children with amblyopia. Besides, electrical plum-blossom needle treatment could improve visual acuity of amblyopic children. Because of the reliable curative effect, good compliance and easy operation, electrical plum-blossom needle treatment has a bright prospect in clinical application. |
