Abstract Objective Do implant operation immediately after tooth extraction in animals to build models of immediate implant and observe the healing prossess of bone tissue after the operation. Try to use bioglass, hydroxyapatite or collagen membrane in the operation and try to use bioglass or hydroxyapatite with collagen membrane at the same time. Observe the effect of bone regeneration and the success rate. Try to find out the machanism of the regeneration of the alveolar bone and the osseointegration of the implant, to provide some theoretical guidance to the clinical practice of immediate implant. Method 21 adult cats are chosen, numbered, and devided into 4 groups. Their first premolars are extracted, and pure titanium implants are implanted immediately into the socket of the distal roots after some preparation of them. Use bioglass, hydroxyapatite to stuck the space between the implant and the walls of the sockets. Or use collagen membrane to cover the socket, and try to use bioglass or hydroxyapatite with collagen membrane at the same time. Use antibiotics in 1 week's time after the operation and observe the result of the healing of the wound. Animals are killed at different times of 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks and the mandibules are cut out. Observe the result of the healing of the implant and calculate the success rate with the methods of eyesight observation, X-ray radiography, histologic observation and electronic mocroscope. Do statistic analysis and comparation of the success rate of the different methods. Result The total success rate of 42 implants in 21 cats is 95.2%. Using Bioglass or Hydroxyapatite to stuck the space between the implant and the socket can accelerate the bone tissue to regenerate and in 12 week's time new bone tissue is mature and assure the osseointegration of the implant, and the success rate is 100%. Using collagen membrane can cause regeneration of bone tissue and assure the implant nice osseointegration in 12 week's time, and the success rate is 88.8%. Using bioglass can cause quicker and better regeneration of the bone tissue than Hydroxyapatite. Conclusion Using Bioglass, Hydroxyapatite and/or collagen membrane in immediate implant can gain same success rate to delaied implant, which is a satisfactory result. Bioglass has better effect than Hydroxyapatite. The result is even better to use Bioglass with collagen. The usage of bioglass with collagen membrane in immediate implant has nice meaning in clinic.
