Insulin Resistance is a abnormal condition that the reaction of target constitution of human body insulin-acting on to insulin biological effect. That is the decline in insulin sensitivity. It's not only the important feature, but also the common pathologic basis of many diseases, such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular disease. So it's always a hot study issue in the medical field resently. Present study directed by the IR theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine selected high fat diet-induced IR animal model as the subject to evaluate the effect kai yu qing wei ke li on IR. Euglycemic insulin clamp technique is main method. Meanwhile, the effect on intracellular triglyceride content of liver and skeletal muscle will be observed and the result will be used to discuss the possible effective mechanism of this Chinese medicine. This research is based on the systematical review of materials about clinical manifestation, etiology and pathogenesis of IR and insulin resistance syndrome. Majority of parents with IR and insulin resistance syndrome pass through the step of a species of overautration and relatively-fat shape before being taken ill. Most of patients are melancholy and lose frequently their temper in the early and middle period after falling ill. Also their mouths feel frequently parched and taste bitter. Their excrements get often dry. Tongues are red, the moss of tongues are yellow. Their pulses rapid, and strong and so on. From a Chinese medical principle and cure of point of view, what is called gan wei yu re symptom. Overeating and lessacting are the two main cause of IR. The storage of Qi and heat in Zhong Jiao is the basic pathology. The principle of Chinese medical treatment is to relieve the heat in liver and stomach, to regulate the Qi in Zhong Jiao. According to this, we make up the prescription, kai yu qing wei, which come from Da cai hu decoction of {Shang Han Lun?witten by Zhang Zhongjing. Through the observation-comparison of Chinese medicine with Rosiglitazone, the both result of the Euglycemic insulin clamp technique and Insulin tolerance test indicated that this Chinese medicine can improve the insulin sensitivity in IR rats. Moreover, it can decrease the insulin level and regulate the PAI and t-PA level. The Chinese medicine treatment also resulted in the decline in central fat and relieve intracellular triglyceride content of skeletal muscle and liver. This may be the important effective mechanism of kai yu qing wei ke li on treatment IR.
