1. Objectives: An investigation of the male smokers on the basis of the four diagnostic theory was conducted with review of the index of the peripheral blood picture , blood clotting picture and blood lipid in the past three months to find out the relation between the clinical syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine in smokers and the index of tests. Smokers' traditional Chinese syndromes without occurrence of disease are observed to find out the common or specific syndromes. In combination with the index of tests in Western medicine related diseases may be seen in smokers. Warns are raised to remind smokers to give up smoking based on the theory of Chinese medicine and preventive and treating measures are suggested.2. Methods: First the syndrome standard was designed, and according to the related diseases easily occurring, the retrospective test index of Western medicine was selected. Questionnaire was made. The advanced research method was adopted and subjects were selected in this research. Syndromes of Chinese medicine were investigated in terms of the questionnaire related to Chinese medicine. After approval of the people who answered the questions the test index of the peripheral blood picture, blood clotting picture and blood lipid in the past three months were reviewed. Finally the related data were analyzed and the statistics were managed, and the thesis was written. The experimental data were shown in average ±(x ± s). The SPSS software package was used for One-Way analysis of variance. T assay was used to make comparison between groups . P<0.05 indicated it had statistical significance.3. Result: According to the research it has been found that (1) Syndrome occurrence rate of traditional Chinese medicine is from high to low: blood stagnation (24.72%), phlegm-dampness (21.40%), qi stagnation (16.97%) , wind-phlegm (9.59%), qi deficiency (8.48%), yin deficiency (7.74%), blood deficiency (6.64%), yang deficiency (4.42%), among which the higher rate is of blood stagnation and phlegm-dampness. (2) Syndromes of the five-zang organs occur as follows: spleen syndrome (29.15%), kidney syndrome (24.72%) , heart syndrome (20.29%), lung syndrome (17.34%), liver syndrome (8.487%). (3) Along with the years of smoking, the rate of syndromes of phlegm and blood stasis increases obviously. (4) The data of peripheral blood picture in the excess syndrome of blood stasis and phlegm-dampness of the smokers in comparison with that in deficiency syndrome has obvious difference after statistical management (P<0.01, P<0.001). (5) The index of blood clotting picture in syndromes of blood stasis and phlegm-dampness is quite different from that in other syndromes after statistical management (P<0.01) (6) The index of blood lipid tested in persons with syndromes of blood stasis , phlegm-dampness and qi stagnation is obviously different in comparison with that in other syndromes after statistical management (P<0.01)..4. Conclusion : With the above facts we can conclude that smoking causes a long-term23 body injury and without symptoms of Western medicine, syndromes of Chinese medicine may occur obviously. Blood stasis and phlegm-dampness are frequently seen syndromes and they are specific syndromes too. There is an obvious difference between the index of the peripheral blood picture, blood clotting picture and blood lipid in syndromes of blood stasis and phlegm-dampness and other syndromes. We can say that at the initial stage syndromes of blood stasis and phlegm-dampness occur. The index of Chinese medicine related to syndromes may be the early phenomena seen in the occurrence and progress of diseases.
