Vertigo is one of common clinical syndromes which is clinically manifestedas dizziness and giddiness that will cease or will rotate as boating because ofthe difference in syndromes . The fast tempo of life in modern society may causenervouse , tired , anxious in mind and they can change into the cause of vertigo .According to statistics , its incidence tends to increase gradually year afteryear especially in the group consist of young man. It is caused by all kinds ofpathogeny . it is difficult to judge the pathogeny clearly by force of diagnosticchannel in western medicine in many cases. Traditional Chinese medicine andpharmacy therapy is widely concerned as its predominance over comprehensive actionresulting from its taking the whole body into consideration. Many doctors and clinicians gradually consummate its pathogeny and onset lawand main points of syndrome differentation and summarize comprehensive experienceof clinical administration and accumulate plenty of relative leteratures duringtheir clinical observation and practical recognition over two thousand years frompre-Qin dynasty to the end of Qing dynasty. After collectting deta which is relatedto vertigo disease generally, we filtrated ,sorted and analysed it .Historicalorigin and development and special advance in each dynasty were narrated in theliteratures of TCM from pre-Qin to the end of Qing dynasty and characteristicsin different phase was retrospected and studied in this article which will bebeneficial to make profound exploration on the treatment and use experience forreference and enligeten clinicians. There are two parts in this disquisition. The contents of the first chapteris the first part which determined the definition and range of vertigo in thisdisquisition and made its clear definition according to the standard of modernChinese medicine and made certain the range of diseases and disorders in westernmedicine included in vertigo and other deseases manifested as similarly mainsymptoms were also be taked into the same range. Many relative disease names ofthis symptoms existed in the ancient literatures were also listed and analyed.Vertigo discussed in this disquisition is included in internal medicine. The contents of the second to the sixth chapter is the second part of thedisquisition which was divided mainly according to the dynasty into the followingphases as the pre-Qin-two Han , Wei-Jin-Sui-Tang ,Song ,Jin-Yuan-Ming and Qingdynasty. Much space was applied to the exploring and discussing about the英文摘要 5important treatises and standpoint of physicians in each dynasty. Advancing andoriginal points were all absorbed into this disquisition ,and origin from whichthe ideal derived was also analyzed. At the beginning of each phase ,characteristicof content which included following ,innovation and development recorded inrelative literature was introduced in the first instance. Afterwards ,keystonewas put on meticulous analysis which was related to representative literature.Among them ,pathogenesis, diagnosis ,differentiation,treatment ,peculiarmedicine using ,nursing and prevention etc were all involved in. In order to findout origin of frame of reference of vertigo ,we narrated all the life of thosewho has made excellent contribution in vertigo treatment briefly .All thosetheory ,experience of administration and scientific ideal will provide valuablereference and instruction for the researchers in modern times.
