Magnolia Bark is one of common used Traditional Chinese Herbs. And it was firstly recorded in 《Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing》. Then, it has been recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeiaas as the dry cortex of Magnolia officinalis Rehd. et wils. or Magnolia officinalis Rehd. et wils. var. biloba Rehd. et wils. It can eliminate Dampness ,remove Phlegm , promote circulation of Qi and relieve fullness.Granules of extraction of Chinese herbs has innovated the processing of traditional herb pieces. It is formula granule of a herb that is made from herb pieces of high quality herb which is refined by modern technology. Under the theory of TCM, its clinic use is accorded to traditional herb pieces in nature, taste, channel and efficacy .To ensure high quality, safety and stable production, the key problem is to make quality of raw material and its herb pieces under control. So it is necessary to find out the high quality species, best habitant ,suitable collection period and proper processing techniques and we should also find out the best processing method under experiments to ensure the quality of the raw materials. Only the best quality raw material and its herb pieces can make granules safe ,high quality, stable and under control.It is the first time to screen out the species for raw material of granules, finally we choose the dry cortex of Magnolia officinalis as the source of raw material of granules .We firstly screen out the habitants of raw materials. We have investigated the commodity of raw materials in 6 habitants from 4 provinces for 3 years. Finally we choose Dujiangyan in Sichuan as the suitable habitants.We firstly regulate the processing of Jiangzhihoupo. Through investigating the content of magnolol,honokiol, water extracts, ethanol extracts, essential oil as factors, by orthogonal experiment, we established the processing methods that the clean cortex without cork was moistened , cutted into pieces and dried under the sun orderly.
