Belamcanda chinensis(L.) DC, as a traditional Chinese medicine, has been used to treat diseases since the ancient time. In the course of our research, the pharmacological tests exhibited that EtOAc soluble fraction of the EtOH extract from rhizomas of Belamcanda chinensis showed the anti-virus activity, but the relevant literatures have not been found, In order to investigate the principle base of the activity and find new bioactive ingredients from the active fraction, the study on chemical constituents was carried out, and eight compounds were isolated by means of many kinds chromatography methods such as silica gel-column chromatography, Sephadex, ODS-column, Polyamide-column chromatography, preparative -TLC and so on. The structures of these compounds were identified by the spectroscopic methods together with physicochemical properties and literature data. They were elucidated as: tectorigenin ( dy-1 ) , irigenin(dy-2), irisflorentin(dy-3), genistein(dy-4), tectoridin(dy-5), iridin(dy-6), mangiferin(dy-7), 5,7, 3'-trihydroxy-6, 2',5'-trimethoxyisoflavone(dy-8) respectively. Among them, Dy-8 was a novel compound.
