Objective: Through the pharmaceutical research of the traditional Chinese formular of "SanAo Tang " consist of Herba Ephedrae, Semen Armenniacae Arnarum,Glycyrrhiza uralensis , to develop anew fifth grade medicine "SanAo Tang pill" that conforms to the declaration standard requirement of The Chinese Supervise Bureau of Food and Drug.Methods: (1) To use HPLC to establish the method for the determination content of amygdalin and ephedrine. (2) According to the determination content of amygdalin, ephedrine, glycyrrhizic acid and liquiritin, the orthogonalization test, uniform test and macroporous resin test were adopted to choice the best conditions of extracting and separation technology of the effect part of SanAo Tang.Results: The good linearity was obtained. Each added recovery and the precision were good. The methods were simple, rapid and with better reproducibility for the determination of the effect part of SanAo Tang .The experiment results indicated that the extracting and separation technology was stability and feasibility.Conclusion: Through the extracting and separation technology of research to the traditional Chinese formular "SanAo Tang", the content (>50%)and the abstracting rate (>50%) of the effect part of SanAo Tang Pill could meet the the declaration standard requirement of the fifth grade Chinese medicine, issued by The Chinese Supervise Bureau of Food and Drug.
