| Hedyotis diffusa W., widely distributed in china, is used as a folk medicine for the treatment of gastroenteritis and appendicitis. Several studies have indicated that the extracts of Hedyotis diffusa W. have growth inhibitory effects on a number of human cancers useing for treatment of lung cancer, digestive system cancers and hepatoma.15 constituents were isolated from the 70% ethanol extract of the whole herb of Hedyotis diffusa W., by using solvent extraction, repeated column chromatography and recrystallization. On the basis of physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis, they were identified as follows: 2-hydroxy-3-methyl-1-methoxy anthraquinone (1), 2-hydroxy-7-methyl-3-methoxy anthraquinone (2), 2-hydroxy-3-methylanthraquinone (3), 2.6-dihydroxy-3-methyl-4-methoxy anthraquinone (4), 2-hydroxy-7-hydroxymethyl-3-methoxyanthraquinone (5). E-6-O-p-coumaroyl scandoside methyl ester (6), E-6-O-p-methoxycinnamoyl scandoside methyl ester (7), scandoside (8), asperulosidic acid (9), kaempferot (10), scopoletin (11), p-coumaric acid methyl ester (12), ursolic acid (13),β-sitosterol (14), daucosterol (15)。Among them, compounds 4, 5 were new compounds and compounds 2 was isolated from Hedyotis genus for the first time.Preliminary phrmacologcial experiment showed that the n-BuOH and CHCl3 extracts of Hedyotis diffusa W. had significant inhibitory effects on the H460 and Sf188 cells using MTT method in vitro. |
