Honeysuckle flower is the drying flower bud of Lonicerajaponica thunb and the other plants belonging to the Lonicera fatuity.Commonly known as'erhua'in chinese traditional medicines,which has been used for thousands years.The modem pharmaceutical research on Honeysuckle flower showed it had activity on antibiosis,anti-inflammation,haemostasis. adjusting immune functions,protecting liver,lowering btood-lipid,antioxidation and so on.In order to find active agents from it.the study on its chemical constituents was carried out.By means of silica gel column,sephadexLH-20 get column and recrvstallization.16 compounds together with a mixture with the same quantity were isolated.The structures of 13 compounds were identified by their physic-chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis. They were identified as luteoIin(1),quercetin(2),luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucoside(3),rutin(4), 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid(5),Chtorogenic acid(6),Chlorogenic acid butvl ester(7),oleanotic acid(8),1-O-methyl-myo-inositol(9),nonacontane(10),β-sitosterol(11),sucrose(12), glucose(13)respectively,while,the mixture were identified as kaempferol-3-O-rutioside (14)and isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside(15).Among these compounds,compound 9 was isolate form this plant for the first time.Bioactive constituents with inhibition effects on the cells apoptosis induced by ultraviolet irradiation were isolated by bioassay guided isolation.Compounds Chlorogenic acid and 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid showed the significant effects on the cells apoptosis induced by ultraviolet irradiation.
