Dry ginger is one of common used Traditional Chinese herbs.It was firstly recorded in "Shen Nong Ben Cao Jin".Then,it has been recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeias as the dry rhizomes of Zingiber officinale Rosc.It can warm middle and expel cold,restore Yang and promote pulses,dry dampness and eliminate sputum.According to Chinese Pharmacopoeia of 2005 edition,dry ginger shall be harvested in winter.So far,there is no report on harvest time of dry ginger and the correspond quality.It is the first time to do research on harvest time about dried ginger from Qianwei ginger GAP base in Sichuan province from 2003 to 2005.From the result,we can conclude that Huangkou ginger shall be collected in first 20 days of December and Baikou ginger shall be collected around November 30th.It is the first time to provide guideline on processing methods of dry ginger on quality from Qianwei.The samples were dried in different processing methods and at 4 temperatures,he contents of 6-gingerol and volatile oil of each sample were measured by HPLC and the method of C.P respectively.We measured the alcohol-soluble extract as well.From the result,we can see processing methods and drying temperature significantly affect the quality of dry ginger.The best processing method should be that fresh ginger is dried at 55℃unpeeled。It is the first time to screen out the best Developing solvent system of Thin-Layer Chromatographic Identification Test for ginger and volatile oil.The best developing solvent system for volatile oil is mixture of petroleum ether and ethyl acetate(9:1).The content of Alcohol-soluble extracts is not included in C.P for quality control.So we design method for measuring content of Alcohol-soluble extracts by experiments.The solvent shall be 45%ethanol.Though experiments,we draw the draft of quality standard of Dry ginger. Compared to C.P 2005,the water,acid-insoluble ash heavy metal,harmful element and chlorine are added.There are contents of alcohol-soluble extracts and 6-gingerol as well.Besides,we primarily establish the HPLC fingerprint of dded ginger from different pads of China and the common model of fingerprint is built.
