Clinical Observations, Of Dodder Ling Tang To Treat Age-related Macular Degeneration (dry)

Purpose: To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbal compound TuLing Decoction on the Patients of the Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) with Dry Type.Methods: All of the material come from affiliated hospital of chengdu university of TCM. We divided the patients with age-related macular degeneration into the treatment group and the control group, 31 cases(62 eyes) belong to the treatment group, 30 cases (60 eyes) belong to the control group, treatment lasted for 2 monthes. The index of curative effect: Vision, Amsler, Visual field and the multiple scores of manifestation of TCM.Results:①In comparison of effect on the test by vision, the total effective rate showed 70.97%, while that of the control was 40.00%. The comparison of the two groups of patients' vision demonstrated efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group(P<0.05).②In comparison of effect on the test by Amsler list, the total effective rate showed 83.37%, while that of the control was 34.28%. Comparing the two groups, the treatment group is more effective than the control group(P<0.05).③When visual field was compared, the total effect rate of the treatment group was74.19%, while that of the control was 30.00%. The efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.05) .④In comparison of the effect of tow groups, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 82.50%, while the control group was 40.00%. The efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.05) .⑤We compared the symptoms of TCM between them: as for the therapy group the symptoms were improved after treatment except for bitter taste in mouth and tougue image (P<0.05) , for the control group, the symptoms weren't improved obviously but the improvement of sense of unclear in the eyes compared with pretreatment (P>0.05) ; After treatment, efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group except the effectiveness of anterior shadow, dizziness and tinnitus, bitter taste in mouth and tougue image(P<0.05).⑥In comparison of the TCM symptoms integral, the total effective rate reached 83.37%, while that of the control was 36.66%. The result showed efficacy of the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:①Tilling Decoction has a good effect on the dry type AMD. It can increase the patients' vision, improve the patients' Amsler, visual field and symptoms, speed up the absorption eyegroud which provided an experimental base for further study.②This issue confirms insufficiency of liver and kidney, temper weak, phlegm and blood stasis guitar is the basic machine of age-related macular degeneration with Dry Type.
