OBJECTIVE To investigate the condition of adverse drug reaction reports at out-patient department and part of out-patient's prescriptions in a hospital in Sichuan Province. In order to promote the rational use standard of antibacterial drugs, decrease occurrence of drug-induced diseases.METHODS 1. All adverse drug reaction reports reported from July 2008 to June 2009 were collected in the hospital in Sichuan Province. The reporting of adverse drug reaction were statistical analyses. And those adverse drug reaction caused by antibacterial drugs were undergone statistical analyses in antibacterial drugs, route of administration and clinical manifestations.2. Outpatient's prescriptions from July 2008 to June 2009 were selected randomly in west-drugstore's prescriptions in the hospitals. The state of combined use, methods of administration of antibacterial drugs, use rate of antibacterial drugs and phenomenon of unreasonable drug use were statistical analyzed. The use rationality of antibacterial drug and the relationship between adverse drug reaction and antibacterial drug were also analyzed.RESULTS 1.313 adverse drug reaction reports were collected from July 2008 to June 2009 at out-patient department.262(83.71%) were reported from pharmacy department among all the 313 adverse drug reaction reports,51(16.29%) were reported from clinic department. 253(80.83%) were induced adverse drug reactions, and adverse drug reactions caused by cephalosporin were more than other antibacterial drugs, were 122(48.22%).149(58.89%) were caused by injections. The clinical manifestations of adverse drug reactions caused by antibacterial drugs were damage to skin and its appendages, nervous system damage, respiratory system damage, and damage to the digestive system, etc.2. The total drugs cost was 4868513.25 yuan among the total 48525 prescriptions. The prescriptions of antibacterial drugs were 21840(45.01%). The total cost of antibacterial drugs was 1975155.83 yuan (40.57%). The average cost of each prescription was 100.33 yuan. Cephalosporin was the maximum antibacterial drugs (41.03%).13573(62.15%) prescriptions were combined use of antibacterial drugs.7601(34.80%) were injections among all of the prescriptions. The first three use frequencies of antibacterial drugs were cephalosporins, quinolones and penicillins. The first three use cases of antibacterial drugs were cefoperazone/sulbactam, mezlocillin/sulbactam and ceftazidime. The first three departments of antibacterial drugs usage were obstetrics and gynecology department, pneumology department and department of infectious diseases. 2070(9.48%) was the unreasonable use of antibacterial drugs prescriptions.CONCLUSION 1. Adverse drug reaction reports reported from pharmacy department were more than other clinical department. Adverse drug reactions caused by cephalosporin were more than other antibacterial drugs. Adverse drug reactions caused by injections were more than other route of administration.2. The antibacterial drugs'using percentages were high in the hospitals. The rate of antibacterial drugs' using and injection could meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health. The antibacterial drugs'combination percentages were high too, and some of which were improper.3. The more reasonable the use of antibacterial drugs, the less harm caused by the adverse drug reaction, even the adverse drug reaction could be avoided.
