| Purpose: To study the big polar nitrogen-containingcompound and ginseng saponins from the fruits of Panax ginseng C.A.Meyer.Method: The use of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) to guide target compounds detaching. By the modern chromatography techniques (silica gel, macroporous resin, ODS , Sephadex LH-20 and preparative HPLC, etc), the big polar nitrogen-containingcompound and ginseng saponins were isolated from the fruits of Panax ginseng C.A.Meyer. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by the spectroscopic analysis (1H NMR, 13C NMR, ESIMS, HMQC and HMBC) and chemical methods.Result: Nine compounds were isolated from the fruits of Panax ginseng C.A.Meyer. Eight compounds of them were identificated as: L-2-amino-3(β-indoles) Propionic acid(â… ); 3-O-[6-O-malonyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1â†'2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-20-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl(1â†'6)-β-D-glucopyrano-syl]-20(S)-protopanaxadiol (â…¢); 3-O-[β-D-Glucopyranosyl -(1â†'2)-β-D-glucuronopyranosyl]-28-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl]-Olean-12-en-28-oicacid(â…£);6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-20-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-24-ene-dammar-3β,6α,12β,20S-tetraol(â…¤); 6-O-[α-L-rhampyranosyl-(1-2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-20-O- [β-D-glucopyranosyl]-dammar-24-ene-3β,6α,12β,20S-tetraol(â…¥); 3-O-β-D -glucopyranosyl-(1-2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-20-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-dammar-24-ene-3β,12β,20S-triol(â…¦); 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-20-O-β-D- xylofunosyl-(1-6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-dammar-24-ene-3β,12β,20S-triol(â…§); 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-2)-β-D-glucopy-ranosyl-20-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-dammar-24- ene-3β,12β,20S-triol(â…¨).Conclusion: The first use of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) to guide chemical composition detaching.
