| Literary translation and professional translation are two major categories in translation. They differ in various aspects, and need to be researched respectively. This paper focuses on the issue of fidelity in professional Chinese-English translation (from a Chinese A into an English B). With a large amount of supporting examples, it argues that such translation activities are carried out with specific aims or skopos in a professional context where a translator plays a vital role in coordinating different interests and puts before fidelity the pursuit of client's satisfaction and real communication. |
