It is well-known that both the teaching and learning of Chinese characters are difficult. And the primary stage of Chinese character instruction is the most important time in both the teaching and learning processes.On the basis of analyzing some famous models of Chinese character instruction, this dissertation puts forward a scaffolding instruction model of Chinese characters. In which the scaffolding instruction theory of L.S.Vygotsky and the sub graphemes theory of Chinese Characters are applied. According to the author, the teaching Chinese characters is relatively independent of intensive reading course at the prophase stage ,and then combines with each other at the anaphase stage. Teachers on the other hand, should make full use of the zone of proximal development, under the steps of scaffolding instruction of Chinese character, and use questions and scaffolds to inspire students to learn actively in order to achieve teaching goals.Besides, this dissertation provides detail explanation of the teaching processions of this instruction model which is operative, feasible and supported by experiments.
