The clue is the basis for spatial orientation. NMDA receptors play an important role in cues of spatial working memory and cues of spatial reference memory. The discharge of hippocampal neurons related closely with spatial orientation. The experiments is to study the effect of NMDA receptor on cues of spatial working memory, reference memory and the hippocampal neuron activities in rats. The result of the behavioral experiments showed that MK801 (NMDA receptor antagonist)has different effects on the double-cue group (the close-distance cue inside and the long-diatance outside the maze) and single-cue group (long-distance cues outside the maze). The results of electrophysiological experiments showed that,in the close-distance condition, the activities of the hippocampal neuron and local field potentialθoscillation will change after the injection of MK801, and the characteristic discharge of the hippocampal neuron also changed significantly after eliminating the clues.
