Attentional Blindness is of great importance in revealing the relationship between two kinds of attention-al control:bottom-up process and up-down process. In the traditional researches in attentional capture most, additional singleton paradigm has been used. Paid more emphasis on the role of stimulus saliency in attentional capture and attentional capture was purely stimulus driven process. The selective attention determining objects whether could be aware in. Working memory as a more active mechanism is required for actively maintaining current processing priorities, which depend on the inhibition to irrelevant distracters. The study explored the effect of working memory load on inattentional blindness in order to probe into the effect of top—down cognitive control. Two experiments were included. One is the OSPAN helping to distinguish the subjects in higher and lower working memory capacity. The other is different working memory load on perceptual task of memory set. A dual task paradigm was adopted in the main experience. It is a 2 (WMC higher vs. lower)×2(WM load high vs. low)×2(except stimulus vs. none) with subjects design. Some major results were obtained. Firstly, the cognitive controlling function of working memory not only active and maintain the task, but also inhibition the irrelevant interference. Individual differences in working-memory (WM) capacity predicted performance on the task two which indicate the importance of executive control and goal maintenance to selective attention.Low WM individuals spent more times than did high WM individuals on all the tasks. Secondly, working memory load also play a role in the dual-task which need cognitive control. Subjects performance is obvious differences between the low working memory load and the high, which has been regulated by the WMC; Thirdly, it was concluded that the higher working memory load, the more the effects of inattentional blindness reduced by the irrelevant singleton.
