The free atonality period is the second period of the Schoenberg's musical composition, and also is the important transitional period of him from the later period of romanticism to the series twelve-tone music composition, so Schoenberg's works of this period has a big difference to his works of the other period. In that time, his creation has just be in the stage of exploration, and he didn't form a complete and standardized theoretical system. Although the composer had used many modern musical creation techniques in the works, but still retained a lot of traditional factors related to the works in the music. So this article will focus on this characteristics have a comprehensive, multi-angle, more in-depth and detailed analysis about the elements of form structure , rhythm ,melody line ,intervals and chords structure , composition and development of thematic motives the use of pitch-class set , the control of degree of tension to the music emotions for the six short piano pieces. Strive to find the development logic of atonal music and compositional characteristics of the music structure. So as to further clarify the historical evolution course and development context from the later period of romanticism height chromatic march to the complete twelve-tone series music systems, offer some necessary theoretical basis.In addition, I also in the perspective of music aesthetics, have a brief analysis about the social environment and historical reason that create this kind of cultural phenomenon, and obtained it that the aesthetics thinking have important influence for the same period music compose style. Finaly , in the article the writer has also discussed some inspiration and conclusions that he get in analyze the"six short piano pieces", and hope at the same times with have a deep-going explore of this work , can offer some reference for the other atonality works researchers .
