The Mamoru Oshii Animated Film Studies

In the Japanese Animation circle, Mamoru Oshii is one of the best directors as famous as Hayao Miyazaki. There are so many fans that are crazy about his animations all over the world and he has contributed a lot in Digit Visual Arts Design. The most advanced CG technology is Mamoru Oshii's tool to practice his view of movie. He has tried his best to combine the animation and reality to create his movies and created a new type of movie---realistic movie. His experimental pictures and perfect ideas of art which made the line between the animation and movie blurred have broadened the audio-visual language of movie. Mamoru Oshii lays emphasis on the expression of image and he is good at using the self-possessed lens to shock the hearts. The background of his movies contains Mamoru Oshii's thoughts and philosophy on the over speed development of human being's civilization. As an animation director, Mamoru Oshii is an "author movie" director between art and business. But, animation, as a special branch of movie, is often ignored by those researchers and the study on the animation directors is almost a blank. The domestic research on animation is only limited on mainstream Hayao Miyazaki and the research on Mamoru Oshii is a blank. This paper begins with Mamoru Oshii's experiences and then lead in his main works in order to focus on Mamoru Oshii's style, the narrative traits, the expression of art and the aesthetics concept. By analyzing the deep thought of Mamoru Oshii's works and the unique aesthetics connotation, the all-directional research aims to fully unscramble the style of Mamoru Oshii.
