Women's writing made distinguished achievements in the l990s. As thecontinuity of early 20th celltUry it has suxely made some breakthroughs underthe new historical coniext, meanwhile,it is of some significance for itsdeconstruction of masculine auhority culture in texts. In the above mentioned liesthe necessity of my research into the women's writing of the 1990s. Here, women's writing contains various possibilities, not only does it show strong anddistinctive sense of femininity, bat also sUrpasses it, therefore their writing takesan open posture. Just along this thread, the thesis gives an overall description ofthe women's writing of the l990s,reveals its deeper cultural connotation andc1arify its inner tendency of development. The paPer consists of three parts.I .Women's writing and the sense of femininity. The sense of femininitymainly refers to the sense of sexual distinction, Which can be viewed from threeaspects: (1 )Women in historical context. Women's writing cleans away the dust ofhistory, delineating the true colors of women in historical circumstances andrendering fresh life to them .(2)Women in the present context. Women's writingdisplays their present real living conditions from tWo perspectives, the descriptionof the "besieged city complex"and of the dilemma outside the "besieged city",i.e.mareiage and love.lt also brings to light women's spiritllal tendency in the deeperlevel.(3)Women in pirvate world. The comparison between such female writers asChenRan,LinBai and those belonging to the so-called"Newest Generation"(whowere bom after 1970) reveals the split and essential differences between the twogenerations, thus shoWing the deepgoing rebelliousness of women that iscontained in Chen and Lin's revolutionmp and pioneering writing. From the past to the preseni, from the extemal wor1d to the iniemalworld, women get their voice heard in all dimensions without limits of time andspace, and deep sense of femininity permeates tlirough their works.Il .Women's writing and the sense of sur-femininity .The sense ofsur-femininity is the surpassing of the sense of femininity which is reflected intwo aspects:(l)Narration of non-feminine text. The surpassing of angles ofview, the possessing of historical consciousness and the aPplying of metaPhors, show their unusual modes of nariation of the 1990s different from thoseconventional women writers.(2)The interpretation of sux-feminine literature'sthemes. In its realistic reproduction of life in the original condition and livinginterpretation of philosophical themes, women's writing- transcends theestablished narrow concept of women's writing.Women's writing has both the wisdom of non-feminine nedive oftreatment text and a broad scope of expression and profound philosophical andrational thinking 9 which show their clear sense of sur-femininity.III.From the sense of femininity to the sense of sUr--fmininity: theconstfuction of the feminine culture. Women's writing expresses their pursuit ofideal .Women's ideal, due to its deeP and comPlicated colltellts, oversteps the purestance of sex distinction, thus possessing the significance of cultUral construction. The construction of the feminine culture can be considered from tliree angles:(1)the connotation of the feminine culture.Women long for retriing to What thewomen should be and realizing their values .They hope to keep their owncharacteristics as well as to achieve the ideal harmony between the twosexes .(2)the negative construction of the feminine culture. The criticism of thenegative values of the women will help to sound waming to them,so as to directthe feminine culture to positive side .(3)the correspondence between theconstruction of the feminine culture and the tendency of women writing.Sur-femininity and hrnony between sexes, though called differently, have thesame connotation. They reach a deep-level agreement with each other in theirmutual effect between ooter tendency...
