The term of personality was translated into Renge and character was translated into Xingge. This is no agreement within the academia about problem of the two sets of concept's cultural equivalence between the two different languages, we did a textual research about the meaning of Chinese renge and xingge, and the relationship between Chinese renge , xingge with personality and character, our results revealed that personality was translated into Renge and character was translated into Xingge exist the problems certainly. In the present study these problems were regarded as an inevitable sequent leading by the translation deviated from the basis of Chinese language and culture, therefore there is necessary to detect the indigenous signification of these two concepts.The accepted approach of implicit concepts of personality and its structure was lexical method. Based on the review and commentary of the status of Big Five and Big Seven model, this paper think that these two models brought forward by western researchers were only relevant to the structure of personality and not relevant to character. Then the so-call personality structure models obtained by Chinese psychologist were different from the western personality structures. Therefore, the structure of public implicit concepts among Chinese culture of Renge and Xingge should be detected respectively in order to compare results across the native and foreign.This study has following goals: (1) to explore the Chinese people's comprehension of the concepts of Renge and Xingge, and then, to construct the Chinese descriptor list of these two concepts. (2) To clarity the indigenous structure models of Renge and Xingge based on factor analysis of subjects' rating on descriptor of Renge and Xingge, so that we can make the meaningful compare of models across different cultures.2. Study 1: Study on implicit concepts of Renge and Xingge2.1. PurposesAccording to the line of lexical method, we firstly need to define a range, which subjects can choose to describe Renge and Xingge. Therefore the next step can base on it.2.2. Formation of descriptor listThese words can describe personal characteristics were chose from the Modern Chinese Dictionary. The total were 2628. 2.2.1 SubjectsThe subjects were college students and graduate students came from Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, Yunnan agricultural University, and Kunming Science and Technology Institute, the totality of samples were 550. 23.2. Criteria of StatisticsThere are two criteria of statistics, one is average familiarity and comprehension of every word, another is the proportion of every word used to describe positive judgment of Renge and Xingge were calculated. 2.23. ResultsAfter excluding the words average familiarity and comprehension of were less than 2, the choosing proportion of every word that subjects selected to describe Renge and Xingge was calculated. According to 60%, a Renge describe list of 248 was obtained, and a Xingge list of 305 separately. 23. Establishing of common descriptor list of Renge and Xingge23.1. PurposesAfter getting the first list, we need to affirm further which word most people often used to describe Renge and Xingge, in order to form an ultimate list of Renge and Xingge.23.2. SubjectsThe subjects were freshman, sophomore and junior college students came from Yunnan normal University, Kunming science and technology Institute, Kunming medicine institute, the sample were 1055.233.
