In the 1990s,the intrusion of the business civilization accelerated China cities going into modernization more quickly. At the same time, with the transformation of the society,the crack of the discourse and the chink of the system made some of people in the cities,be forced or be voluntary,to drift apart the main current of the society and become into the marginal people of the metropolis.In the novels with metropolis background appears a batch of marginal people ,this thesis takes the integrate of existentialism and their seeking self essense for starting point, expounds the intricate mentality of the marginal people under the numerous and complicated background,and their living complex about resisting the regular society. And from "being"itself elucidates its spirit decree and culure intention.Chapter 1 Introduction The marginal people is the people outside the system and the wanderer of the spirit drifting away main society arena in the metropolis,they have three kinds of characteristic: First,they are between "modernist subject" and "postmodernistic individual";Second,they are between "personal" and "communal"; Third,they are between "the art life" and "the vulgar life".In short,they have no constrain of politics ideology,and neither they have idealism attachment,they refuse mediocre regular society and pursue self original state.Chapter 2 Marginal individual life under the metropolis background In these novels,modernise cities emerged many kinds of style : (1) The city of passing away. (2) The city full of lust. (3) The free city .And in the numerouse and complicated metropolis background ,the mentality of the marginal people were different:(l) Detesting the world and its ways.(2) Abondoning onself to despair.(3) Living dangerously or in defiance of convention.(4) Being content with their lots.Chapter 3 The living complex of the marginal people The marginal people are afraid of mediocre day-to-day,they fear to be fixed by order and be assimilated by the public. They have three kinds of living complex.(l) Revolting and refusing. Diffirent marginal people have diffirent revolting level and consciousness, some have more contradiction ,some are regardless of everything ,and some have achieved their goal unconsciously. On the whole,their revolting direction are consistent, one is revolting culture, one is revolting morolity.(2) Roaming and wandering.For drifting apart the order of the realiry,the marginal people go on roaming from two aspects:on the body, life subject seeking change andirritation of the objective environment;on the spirit,life consciousness taking initiaive in breaking away from this life,and geting into the space of self soul.(3)Lonely and inability to speak.The marginal people take initiative in cutting off the relation of self with the world and self with others,and confront self lonely.Chapter 4 Personal speech form These novels have many writers' personal experience,in the form of speech,they have strong personal flavour. (l)The simulate narration of first person.They often use the narrative tactics of the first person.The autobiographical narration removed the fabrication of the novel,the life reality of the metropolis and the legendary incident of the text are confused. And they formed a kind of simulate narration of imitating reality. (2)Personal image and irony.In the texts,there are lots of obejective figure with writers' personal subjective consciousness,these images have three kinds of characteristic: First,they are private.Second, they are monopolize.Third,they are repeated.Distinctive personal image and irony caused stronger effect.Chapter 5 Concluding remarks The vivid nowdays of these novels emerged the lively life form and living state of some people in present metropolis.At the same time, these novels contained writers' thirsting about resisting the regular society and achieving self original state.These novels have provided new literary element.But in fact,marginal people and their writers are also faced with unsurpassing living paradox and writing paradox.
