Protestantism as American cultural major content has played important role in American history, especially in the period of American Revolution, when growth and decline of the strength of the Protestantism main denominations have formed, when their nationalism ideology has sprouted, practiced and developed. As the contradictory between the American nation and England colonial ruler intensified, that national religion and nationalism mutually mixed together usually became a kind of special spiritual power in national struggle, inspired efficiently American people to carry out indomitable struggle and promoted actively the American Revolution for winning the final victory, at the same time, the nationalism ideology of the Protestantism main denominations also got to grow up in the course of the practice. After national independence, each religious denominations carried out church system reform and constructed the atmosphere of democracy and equality in order to meet the new situation, religion as national cultural major item has also gotten development, has realized separation of religion and state.
