Questioned The New Literature "self-evident" Modernity

The modernity is one of the most controversial problem in Chinese New Literature, but it is self-evident and in chaos. Theory's defection and it's state of chaos in the New Literature led to the elf-evidence. The defection has four aspects, they are responsible for the theory's defection.ChenDuxiu, who is the author of On Literatures Revolutionary, and HuShi, who is the author of Discussion on Literature's Reformation, were the chief commanders in the New Culture Campaign. Their two articles laid particular stress on culture and less on literature's noumenon. Because of this state, the New Literature has always been disturbed by culture. That's why many researchers regard the New Culture's modernity as the New Literature's.The New Literature's writers discuss on "what literature is" , but not on literature's definition. The new literature's conception born under the resistance when Chinese traditional conception encountered the West's modern literature's conception. But at that time, the imputed literature's conception from the West laid stress on utility. So there is difference between the New Literature and belles-letters from the West. But the succeeded person neglected this point. The New Literature's conception was in disorder because of the chaos of the West's literature's conception. "Human's literature" has its own drawback and affected literature's development, study and theory construction.Language is the breach of Literature's Revolutionary, but it usually covered literature. The vernacular's definition of HuShi was full of contradiction. The writers of the New Literature regarded the conception as the criterion to judge all the things. It caused the misunderstanding for XueHeng and JiaYin. XueHeng and JiaYin have been taken as conservatives because their conception on literature was covered by their point of view on language. The rhetoric which consist of "new" and "old" covered the modern characters in non-new and non-old. But these exactly display Chinese literature's special modernity. So the modernity is concealed in some sense and it caused the self-evidence and chaos.Writing realistically also has defection and became to be inherent demand. Many debates in Modern Literature History discussed writing realistically in fact. It ignored the question about how to write which represent modernity's characters. It also make literature pay more attention on "what is written" in theory construction. This act harm the construction of literature' theory.We can't censure writers who are in modern literature and must treat it historically. Our aim which point out the defection is to provide lessons on contemporary literature study and theory construction.
