On The Degree Of Areas In Modern Chinese

With the arising of the functional linguistics, especially the arising of cognitive grammar, the study of the semantic category draws more and more attention of the linguists. The author makes a study of the degree category in modern Chinese ,summarizes the semantic feature of the degree category in modern Chinese,and several expressing ways, and the constriction that semantic feature put on the syntactic form,as the following :1. The semantic nature of degree category .The author summarizes the common nature of the members of the degree category , which determines the semantic unity of degree category and restrict the syntactic expressing ways.2. Sub-category of the degree category . The author re-classifies the degree category according to deferent semantic expressing ways, and the combining relationship ,and determines the sub-category of the degree category, and studies their different grammatical expressing ways and collocational functions.3. The grammatical expression of the degree category .Adverb is the form of the expression of the degree category .The autor makes a study of the co-existent and non-co-existent elements.4. Degree and negation .The author studies the negative state of various families of degree category .Not all the families have the negative forms.Those which have the negative forms have imbalance in form and meaning which has been the marked feature of the negation in the degree category.
