The color of Chinese painting was originally paid attention to by some people. With the rising of the humanity painting, it was not regarded as very important and freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting has taken on a new look, Characterized by its bold, scribbled outline, not to be pursued its shape. Up to modern times, with the combination of east and west, this kind of painting was rapidly developed and became the focal point in the art field. But now it has faced with a lot of embarrassment. Many contemporary artists are indulged themselves in the research for the combination of its brush and ink with its shape, but its research in color is extremely limited. They have done a lot of research in color, but it is immature. By the analysis of its history and present states, we draw some conclusions and also we know one of the most effective methods is to emphasize the color of this kind of painting. Chiefly aspects just as follows: Firstly, the prerequisite of this kind of painting is to inherit and develop the traditional writing brush painting. Secondly, the color principle is the combination between subject and object. Freely imaginary color and its sorts should be used dialectically. Thirdly, its color should be basically a plane design. Brush - wielding also ought to be emphasized in the pictures that color mainly assumes beautifully shape. Furthermore, the relationship between brush and color is the same as brush and Chinese ink. Emphasizing on wielding the brush and forming the color marks. Methods in using Chinese ink and color can be interchangeable. But pay more attention to the mixture between them. Systematically establish the system between brush, ink and color. Lastly, in ancient and modern times, Chinese and foreign art, successfully experiences in using color and newly-introduction material in emphasizing color can be used for reference. Beautifully in Chinese ink and wash, more beautifully in color. Emphasizing its color, abandoning some prejudice widely adopting other's merits and making them—brush, ink, color mix together. Applying them as a whole to the freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting.
