Following the logical development of that historical period, this thesis is devoted to analysis and research on his thought of national united front during this period, based on the author's extensive and thorough reading of Liu's relevant. The thesis is developed into four parts. The first part presents the historical background information before Liu's taking office in the North Office of CPC Central Committee. Different attitudes held respectively by CPC, patriotic masses, Kuomintang and local forces are also discussed. In addition, reasons why Liu was appointed as leader responsible for work of national united front are also under discussion; Then comes the second part which expounds how Liu eliminated left-leaning closed-doornism and promoted the build-up of national united front on all works of life. Another part elaborates how Liu refuted Right-deviationist thinking, and clarified the principle and approaches adopted by the CPC and the proletariat in grasping the leadership of the national united front against Japan. The final part concludes the enlightenment of Liu's work on national united front against Japan— that scientific theory should play the role of guidance, propaganda the stimulus, the CPC the leadership, balanced relationship among the national united front members the focus.
