On Cultural Choice And Social Status Of Traditional Chinese And Western Painting

Abstract: There has been a Symmetric Posture in its contrastive study between Chinese Painting and Western Painting for a long time. But the cultural unequal quality they show is often ignored, This unequal quality originated from their different cultural selection and had a realistic influence on painting's social orientation. We know that China's traditional culture is taking complementation of a thought of Confucianism as its spirit framework Confucianism has unshakable orthodox position on culture, and the supplementary of Taoist school that can not be ignored And it is just opposite in painting to reflect, the thought of Taoist school becomes the mainstream, The Confucianists are foundations that can't be ignored , therefore the culture reflected of China' s painting has non-mainstream side. Western painting is contrary to this, it advances keeping pace with subject culture all the time by way of the spirit kernel of humanism and rational exploration world. And its progressively deep concern about reality makes western painting produce more and more important function and influence in history, The function and influence of western Painting directly determine its lofty forming of society orientation.I intend to study the differences between Chinese Painting and Western Painting repeatedly in my thesis.
