| Folk-song is an artistic form which is used by people to express their thoughts and feelings. It originates from oral creation of the masses and combines music and literature. Therefore, tunes, as musical component of folk-song, must be subjected to the linguistic rules of different districts and nationalities. And words, as its literary component, naturally present different artistic colors to create different styles due to the same reason. The theme of folk-song manifests itself in both tune and words, the latter of which occupies more important position. Due to dual attribute of folk-song, research focus should be fixed on its musical element (i.e. tunes and melody) and literary element (i.e. words of folk-song).This thesis lays particular emphasis on the thorough analysis of words as amphibious literature. It makes detailed study on the transmission and changes of folk-song's words, the words characteristics of varied style, and relationship between words and tunes. It aims to make new interpretation of folk-song's style from the musical perspective. This thesis consists of preface and five chapters.
