This dissertation intends to research traditional Quanzhou puppet sculpt, explore the origin and the forming of its style, probe different esthetic pursues as sculpture and as stage prop, the unique sculpt technique and carving procedure, and search the new characteristic of traditional puppet in modern times. On the basis of fieldwork, the research involves literature textual research, image analysis, etc.This disquisition emphasizes that traditional Quanzhou puppet sculpture looks full and elegant, because it has inherited the graceful full religion statue pattern, which come from luoyang Henan area of Central Plains in Tang Dynasty, and pertain to joss shop for a long-term. While reflection in concrete role, it is romantic, exaggerated, diverse in individuality and rich in region characteristic. Quanzhou puppet sculpture is the perfect union of sculpture and stage prop. These merits are beyond other local puppet sculpture. Impact by modern market, Most of Quanzhou puppet sculpture transform to traveling commodity and toy, in pursuit of technologic nicety, etc.
