| This paper mainly focuses on the family life of the cultural families in Tang Dynasty, trying to make a comprehensive and deep analysis of it. In Tang Dynasty, because of the powerful nation, vigorous society and prosperous culture the cultural families emerge in large numbers. They have no economic worries depending on their salary and country estate. They have less limits in philosophical and religious thoughts so they have an all-embracing attitude towards Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.The family system of the cultural families in Tang Dynasty is based on bearing. The priority of marriage is to carry on the ancestral line. With the time going, their marriage concept change from the early stressing on family status to the late "perfect match" and " predeterminate marriage". One of the most important characteristics of these cultural families different from other families lies in their graceful family traditions and paternal teaching and influences. These traditions and teachings contain mainly Confucianism and related historiography and literature. Once established the family culture and traditions are not easy to break because the family environment is relatively stable. So the education manner centering on family enable the educated to get a subtle influence of these family culture and traditions and at the same time to enable them to focus their whole energy on learning and absorbing. The spare time life of the cultural families in Tang Dynasty is rich and colorful, healthy and elegant, like book-collecting, tea-drinking and traveling. |
