One is intellectual tradition in the May 4th Movement , the other is commonalty tradition came into being in the war of resistance against Japan in the 1930s. The latter was a trend owing to new-vernacular literature rooted in the country when the nation was in danger. Regarded as a important role aroused and educated the public, new-vernacular literature changed the character limited in the metropolises in the May 4th Movement . And new-vernacular literature related the country with the generalization practice. When we review the formation of commonalty tradition, Wuhan Defense should be a importment object.Wuhan Defense was a national campaign after Shanghai, Nanjing, Xuzhou had been conquered in the early period of resistance against Japan. And it was a turning point in the war history. In order to the objectivity and integrity, Wuhan Defense in the paper refers the range from Nanjing conquered (on Dec 13, 1937) to Wuhan withdrawed (in the bottom of 1938). In the period, the centre of new-vernacular literature located in Wuhan, the commonalty tradition gradually Came into being, and the new standard was also shaping up.Chapter one analyses the formation of new-vernacular literature in Wuhan in 1938 through three sides: the writer composition of new-vernacular literature , the founding of literature magazines , the setting up of the literature associations , insititutes. And it also review the reason new-vernacular literature located in wuhan on account of politics foctor, geography factor, the war strategy, the war development.Chapter two probes into the relationship about new-vernacular literature and commonalty literature. Before the war in 1937 they were paralled because of respective readers consumption. But the special history compelled new-vernacular literature united commonalty literature. The measue of union was article going into the coutry and the army. Secondly it also analyses the visages about the Kangzhan literature through the text, the literature styles, the literature consumption and acceptance and so on.Chapter three reappraises the Kangzhan literature in Wuhan . In the meanwhile it points out we should hold a open and understanding attitude about the history. We cannot deny the literature value simply and arbitrarily. Secondly it analyses Kangzhan literature in Wuhan made new-vernacular literature swing from western style to national style. As has influenced the formation of new standard.
