With the sacrificing dance of Manchu Shamanism as the subject investigated, the author carried out a comprehensive research on the origin, development, and pattern of Shamanist dance, based on a survey and analysis of existing research results as well as a field study of the author. After a study of its origin and morphological analysis and a comparison with the Mongolian dance of Bo, the author reaches a conclusion on the characteristics and Manchu Shamanistic dance and the cultural background. The essay consists of preface, three chapters and Conclusion.In the Preface, the author mainly introduces her aim of research, its meaning, materials, methodology employed, and relevant research results.In Chapter one, the author talks about the origin and development of Manchu Shamanist dance from two perspectives: the formation of Shamanism (the origin of Shamanism, the appearance of Shaman, Shamanist sacrificing ceremony, and the formation of Shamanist dance) and the origin of Shamanist dance (Shamanist dances in history and today). After this study, the author reaches a conclusion: Shamanism was born in matriarchal clan society, has experienced a long history of bearing, formation, development, and evolvement, and is a historical cultural essence.In Chapter two, the author describes the dance ceremony based on a serial of field studies on folk sacrificing ceremonies in Dongha Manchu Village, Mangka Manchu Township, Jiutai, Jilin Province.Chapter three mainly talks about some characteristics of Manchu Shamanist dance.
