This research is to explore the effects of the various factors of the family environment as a whole on the mental health and academic achievement of "liushou" children who are junior middle school students in the country, and to seek a ideal family mode for their healthy development.Objective family environment, subjective family environment, mental health and academic achievement of 1049 junior middle school students in the country were investigated with Objective Family Environment Questionnaire & Rearing Attitude of the Main Guardian Questionnaire made by myself, FES-CV & MSSMHS. We study the effects of objective family environment and subjective family environment on the mental health and academic achievement of "liushou children" who are junior middle school students in the country, using SPSS11.0 for windows to have Crosstabs analysis, One-Way ANOVA analysis, Correlation analysis, and Multiple Regression analysis.The results show that the features of "liushou" children's objective family environment are that most of Fathers are away , most of the parents have been away over 5 years ,the main guardian are Mothers and Grandparents , most of the families have more than one child , the family economic status are worse than the normal families' , their parents' literacy degrees are low , and most of them are engaged in physical labour ; The "liushou" children's objective family environment isn't good for the development of their mental health ; The subjective family environment that the parents are all away is better than the other families', and the children's mental health is better, too ; The subjective family environment that Fathers are away is the worst ,and the children have more mental problems ; It is good for "liushou" children's mental health that the family have low conflict, high cohesion, high organization, high expressiveness, moderate control and achievement orientation; The "liushou" children's mental symptoms are aggravating with the rising of grades, and the mental problems of the students in Grade 3 are more serious ; Among the...
