Modal adverb is a part of mood system of modern Chinese as well as that of adverb. It has a plucky characteristic. From the view of its meaning, the meanings of some modal adverbs are concrete, while others are dexterous. From the view of combining characteristics, the distribution of modal adverb is flexible, which can be put both after subject and in the initial places. From the view of its expressive function, the function of some modal adverb is simplex, while the function of others is complex.The object of this thesis is alleged modal adverb. This thesis deepens our cognition to modal adverb through using differences of the internal of alleged modal adverb in syntactic meaning, mood intensity and concrete application.This thesis is divided into four parts:The first part analyses and describes the syntax place. By analyzing, we know alleged modal adverb is put after subject more frequently than that in the initial place, that is to say, alleged modal adverb mainly comments on single sentence, while textual interconnect function is not its main function.The second part first analyses the co-occurrence between alleged modal adverbs and other adverbs, other modal adverbs and other modal particles. Then investigating the factors that constrain co-occurrence and ordering.The third part mainly investigates the syntactic meaning and usage of alleged modal adverb. Through the disposal of dictionary interpretation, we conclude that the syntactic meaning of alleged modal adverb is a sort of mood intensity. Meanwhile, there is also difference between semantic and its usage in the internal of alleged modal adverb. Alleged modal adverb is focus-sensitive operator and the component behind it is focus.The fourth part mainly analyses pragmatic functions of alleged modal adverb. It has the highest choice to declarative. Alleged modal adverb has asserted function, textual function and so on.
