Germany Modern Romantic Period Nationalism

Nationalism ,as one part of the most mighty political and social power,directly influenced the evolution of society and history. The trend of Nationalism thought of Deutschland was a important representation of European Nationalism. The German volk-consciousness sprouted in eraly middle ages. Since entering modern history ,Reformation and Enlightenment broke out one after another. Nationalism had frustration ,but also developed in contemporaneity during these two large events. The Sturm und Drang was a passionate movement that so many intellectuals with strong volk-consciousness took part in. Therefore, Cultural Nationalism was founded by Herder. After the baptism of French Revolution and Napoleon War, the Cultural Natioanlism transformed into Political Nationalism. Romanticism which appeared the same time impacted on the German Nationalism intensively,and the Nationalism branded Romanticism synchronously,and it also induced the German Nationalism was different from other European Nations.I tried to thoroughly analyse and sum up the relationas between the rise of German Nationalism and Romanticism thought in this article.The article falls into three parts as follow:The first part is the preface .I expatiate the reasons and meaning of writing this article ,gather up the status quo of Nationalism research now, state the viewpoints of the works which are in relation to my standpoint ,and raise the questions that I will answer in this article.The second part is the text, the main content include four samll parts.In the first small part,I recite the background and course of the forming of German volk-consciousness, it is the development of German volk-consciousness from feudal Deutschland till the period of Enlightenment ;The second ,I analyse the course of the rise of Cultural Nationalism and its characteristics ;And the next small part ,I explain how German Cultural Natioanlism transformed into Political Nationalism,and find the effect of German Romanticism in this course;In the last small part,I tell the representations of Nationalism in fields of Romanticism,and search for the characteristics of its forming and developing .
