The Rhetoric Of The News Discourse Research

Nowadays news discourse has become more important in people's lives. It appears frequently. People need it every day and news discourse covers a lot of subject. The methods of expressing are diverse. All these characteristics attract the scholars' attentions. Especially in recent years, there appears a series of monographs, and papers which discuss from different angles and use different approaches. However, because news discourse is a new subject for the Chinese academia and there is a lack of interaction of other subjects, the current research is not quite thorough, especially in terms of rhetoric. In this background, by adsorbing and integrating the previous research results, the thesis mainly discussed the rhetoric of the news discourse.Generally speaking, besides the introduction and the conclusion, the thesis is composed of four parts: the brief introduction to the study of news discourse, the rhetorical operative mechanism of news discourse, the strategy of news discourse, and the rhetorical collocation of news discourse.The first part summarizes the current study of news discourse. Defining the scope of news discourse, it first put forward the subject of the thesis, and then reviews the current study of news discourse. By absorbing and integrating the research results of previous researches, this part lays the theoretical foundation for the following parts.The second part discusses the rhetorical operative mechanism of news discourse. Firstly, the rhetorical operative mechanism of general discourse is discussed. Absorbing Mr. Zhang's concept of "big rhetoric", this thesis argues that the rhetorical operative mechanism of general discourse is like this: the rhetorical corpus A chooses an information → codes → sends out, and the rhetorical corpus B receives → chooses an information → codes → responds/ sends out. News discourse also has the similar rhetorical operative mechanism: The reporter and the editor of the news medium choose the information which happens everyday, carry on coding, and transmit the news production to the readers.
