Adolescents have become a major group of Internet use. After a general study of the relevant references, there is little research on the law of Internet use in view of the junior middle school students and primary school students. There is even less research on the relationship among Internet use, students' academic adjustment and mental health. The only studies are not thorough enough and their perspectives are opposite. This paper focus on the basic characteristic of Internet use of the higher primary school students and junior middle school students, the situation of pathological Internet use (PIU) and the relationship among PIU, academic adjustment and mental health. The aim is to provide a psychological basis for parents, schools and the society to guide and control the adolescents properly, to make full use of the positive impact of Internet, and minimize or avoid the negative impact of it.Using cluster sampling method, 755 students were tested. They were students of Grade five and six from three primary schools and students of Grade one to three from two junior middle schools in Beijing. The test was made by using self-made demographic variables and Internet use questionnaire, Adolescent Pathological Internet Use Scale (APIUS), Academic Adjustment Test (AAT) and Mental Health Test (MHT).Through the research, it is obvious that there is a younger trend of the Internet users. The junior middle school students and even the primary school students have become a very important group of Internet use. The PIU rates are 0.8%of higher primary school students and 1.7%of the junior middle school students, which are lower than the existing studies. It shows that demographic variables (sex, grade and family types) have impact on the basic acts of Internet use. The Internet users' grade and sex can predict PIU. Surfing on the Internet hasn't become an influencing factor of the academic adjustment of higher primary school students and the junior middle school students. But as the degree of PIU becomes higher, it will have significant impact on their academic adjustment. The age of Internet use and the PIU rate can predict students' academic adjustment. Surfing on the Internet hasn't become an influencing factor of the mental health of higher primary school students and the junior middle school students. But as the degree of PIU becomes higher, it will obviously influence the users' mental health. The study shows that the degree of PIU plays an important role in predicting the Internet users' mental health. And academic adjustment is a mediator variable which can influence the mental health of adolescents who use Internet.
