Given that the Holocaust was an event in the modern history intending to exterminate a race, it did leave a deeply grieved memory in the Jewish nationality history, and the historical inheritance for all human beings as well. With the deep introspection of the Holocaust, countries in Europe and America, together with Israel, absorbed the Holocaust education as a part of their national education.To a large extent, Holocaust education was belittled deliberately, and, in the presence of survivors, the early stage of Israel society was immersed in memory of the Holocaust brought about by the environment. In the meaning time, Holocaust Education paid much attention to the heroic values and reflected the feature of Zionism. This situation was mainly contributed by the choice of governmental policy at the needs of the country and the nation. Eichmann Trial which happened in 1961 shed a great impact on Israeli society and the Israeli Holocaust education.When the Likud came to power in 1977, with a series of related laws and policies coming into force, Israeli Holocaust education underwent great changes. These changes happened in the context of the needs for Israeli development and the continuous conflicts happening in the Middle East. These changes were also accompanied by the natural vanish of environmental memory, the emergence of the issue of national integration, and so on. Later on, there has come into being the net of Holocaust Education centering on the Yad Vashem. The deeply rooted Holocaust education which has been legitimized in Israel has come into the form of national memory of the Holocaust. With the emphasis put on the uniqueness and the national characteristic, a relationship was firmly established between the Holocaust and Zionism so that the identity of country and nation can be enforced. In addition, the influence of the Holocaust Education which is being felt at the international level helped create a comfort circumstance in which Israeli development can be attained.At present, the emergence within Israel of the history books full of revisionism, the ideological trends of post-Zionism, and the universal denial of the Holocaust all exercised a certain strike on the further development of the Holocaust education in Israel. However, in the presence of a new round of global anti-Semitism, together with some other elements, the Israeli Holocaust education will continue to be strengthened. But the further development of the education will undergo a certain adjustment in accordance of the political situation both within and without Israel, aswell as of the continuous conflicts in the Middle East in particular.This essay tries to argue that, in the first place, Israel, to some extent, has been taking the advantage of the Holocaust Education for utilitarian end, in the second place, the Israeli exclusive application of Holocaust has been doing something to hasten the nationalization of Holocaust and to prompt a morbid self-centered nationalism, and a paradox is coming into being between the Israeli governmental activities and the implication of the Holocaust Education. Finally, to a large extent, the Holocaust education promotes to form"the Masada Complex"in Israeli, which negatively influences the Middle East peace process and the international political environment.To learn from experience of Israeli Holocaust education, China needs to deepen the understanding of relevant history of war, to build legal system and education network, to conduct relevant academic research, and to promote the development of the China's relevant education with various educational contents and forms. Meanwhile, China should pay attention to the cultivation of correct national enthusiasm, extend the reflection of war at international level so that we make contribution to China's development and long term peace worldwide.The Holocaust was a tragedy; we still need to further our rethinking and to deepen the understanding of the Holocaust. Peace and development of Human society make it an indispensable requirement to learn a lesson from the Holocaust experience. The two points of importance in Holocaust Education are: love of peace and respect for diversity. To learn from the Holocaust is not only to prevent the recurrence of similar tragedies, but also to guide human being to live in a new world of peace and equality!...
