A lot of ghost stories were recorded in the weird novel in the Weijin and Nanbei Dynasties and were the most attractive part among this type of novel in this period. As an unique story type, the ghost story become a hotspot of weird novel research in recent years and researchers pay more attention on it. All those researchers began their studies from different aspects and have got many achievement, which promoted people in great part to understand the essence of the ghost story. However, most of researchers seldom separates this type of story from the other kinds of gods and spirts stories, the reason resulting in this phenomenon is that they only put their emphasis on their consistency of reflecting real life and failed to pay attention to their distinctive form of gods and spirits, and neglected to comprehensivly study the story. Now, this selected works sumed up the artistic characteristic of the ghost story in the Weijin and Nanbei Dynasties at the base of massive literature materials of the weird novel; mainly explored the times background and all kinds of cultural factor and deep connotation which condentrated in the story in that times; investigated the research value in humanities from cultural aspect, so as to we can understand the weird novel in the Weijin and Nanbei Dynasties well.Compared to the later similar works, the ghost stories of the Weijin and Nanbei Dynasties were not wroten with the authors' desire, but some faithful records of street gossips. So the plot of the story was quite simple, the length was very short, and ghost images were not painstakingly shaped although extremely immaturity. However, the ghost images had been anthropomorphized and had human feelings, which images give people one kind of simple and authentic feeling at that time.The ghost world, depicted in the weird novel was no longer humdrum, fragmented as well as fuzzy, but a polychrome, integrated and vivid visional world. This world was built on the basis of the ancient religion faith and according to the real condition, and generated by accumulated generations' life experiences. The production of weird novels in the Weijin and Nanbei Dynasties have profound society background and far-reaching times connotation. Detailed analyse and investigation were showed in this paper.
