Han Shaogong is a distinctive writer of our contemporary Chinese literary. Although his works' styles change a lot, one important component of his works is rural content, which describing the rural life of zhiqing, criticizing the defects of urban development by urban and rural civilization contrast, writing the present village based on his own experience. It can be said that rural area haunted him deeply. The experience of rural life is the starting point of his writing. And through this writing Han achieved tremendous success. This paper concerns the theme of returning home and is divided into five parts. First, the paper explores the origin of returning home theme from Han's experience and background. At last, it evaluates the values and the limitation of the returning to rural area theme.The desire to returning home is always in Han's emotion. The theme of returning home is one of most important theme in his works. Han found the affirmation to support life from rural area in shan nan shui bei. In a certain sense rural area means the spiritual home to him and this book can be seen as Han's reward. Han retrospect the rural history and express the rural reality and find the spirit of rural area. In a literature narration, Han 's returning home theme may be to an end in shan nan shui bei, but in life the search for the sense of rural area is just at the beginning. The returning home theme concerns the value of rural area and provides a civilized coordination for the present problem of urban and rural areas. We try to research the returning home theme, so that we can obtain more inspirations to our humanistic spirit construction and value option.
