Mainly based on the local documents of old and new Fangzhi and Chronicles of historical data, especially of Ningbo, Shaoxing and Jinhua in Zhejiang Province during the Late Qing Dynasty and the years of beginning of China Republic, this paper studies on Gentry of the above-mentioned three places during this period through traditional qualitative analysis method and some quantitative analysis method at the same time. This study focuses on the changes of Gentry employment status and their political attitudes during this period, to reveal the trend of Gentry differentiation and its peculiarity. This paper is composed of introduction, conclusion and three chapter. The introduction describes the object, methods, ideas and information of the study and review of the academic researches. Chapter I describes the Gentry profile of Zhejiang in the late Qing Dynasty, which includes the traditional social status and role, the quantitative analysis of the gentry of Zhejiang in the late Qing and the Gentry profile of Ningbo, Shaoxing and Jinhua in the late Qing Dynasty. Chapter II focuses on the gentry division of Ningbo, Shaoxing and Jinhua in the late Qing Dynasty and the years of beginning of China Republic, which include the changes of occupational status and the shift of the political attitudes of the gentry. Chapter III is mainly about the reasons, the generalities and personalities of the Gentry differentiation. The conclusion is a brief overview about the historical role of the Gentry division.This paper focuses on the Gentry division and its reasons in Ningbo, Shaoxing and Jinhua during the Late Qing Dynasty and the years of beginning of China Republic. The Gentry, as the backbone and the local elite of the traditional community, how can they change their employment status to business capitalists, new intellectuals, and other types of enlightened Gentry step by step and at the same time how can they gradually change their political attitudes to the constitutional allocation or the revolutionary faction..
