The traditional Chinese Teaching is centered on class teaching and with a purpose of submitting knowledge. It insists that knowledge calculation decide people's intelligence and talent, and in many cases breaks away from the real life. Dating from the early 1980s, Mr Zhang Xiaochun experimented on"Extensive Chinese Education"for ten years and carefully designed a new mode of the Chinese teaching structure called"One Body with Two branches". This mode closely relates the Chinese Teaching to students'daily life. It suggests that Chinese Teaching should stress on class teaching as well as all kinds of life fields of the students. It not only connects Chinese Teaching to moral education but also to developing students'ability in Chinese and intelligence. What's more, it organically resigns the Chinese Teaching on four aspects, namely, listening, speaking, reading and writing, and provides students good chances to obtain complete, netlike and efficient training. As a result, this mode becomes a success and plays an active role in the course of the Basic Curriculum Reform. This thesis tries to make a panoramic description of his teaching reform according to the materials he left.The thesis can be divided into three parts. First of all, it briefly introduces the reasons why Zhang Xiaochun presented the concept of"Extensive Chinese Education", the steps in which he carried out the reform and also proves in many aspects that Zhang's experiment is in advance of the time. Then it makes a thorough analysis about the features of"Extensive Chinese Education"and the mode"One Body with Two branches", trying to find teaching theories both at home and abroad to support his reform. Secondly, the thesis analyzes the development of the late"Extensive Chinese Education"and its position in the course of the Basic Curriculum Reform. At the same time, it points out the disadvantages of"Extensive Chinese Education"and its hardship facing the reality. Finally, the thesis studies its future trend and appeals academic circles pay close attention to the achievements Mr Zhang made twenty years ago.The thesis is theoretically and practically meaningful in three aspects. First, it is the first to make a panoramic description of Zhang Xiaochun's teaching reform experiments. Next, it thoroughly analyzes the thoughts and characteristics of"Extensive Chinese Education". Last but not the least, it tries to find the corresponding point between"Extensive Chinese Education"and the Chinese Integrating Learning.
