Time adverb is an important secondary category of adverbs with large members. In this thesis ,we will discuss the characteristics of short- time adverb "â…©ran" from synchronic level, and analyze their general characters and differences in Semantics and Syntax on the basis of a great deal of language material.We also discuss the combination of "tu ran+noun" which exists reasonably in pragmatic. It's not enough to prove that "tu ran" is an adverb, but it's a proof that"adverb+noun" is a rational construction.To give a better explanation of "â…©ran", from diachronic level, we have an investigation of the Grammaticalization of"â…©ran", then put forward the mechanism of It's Grammaticalization in order to state Chinese short-time adverbs in grammar.This thesis inconcludes six parts.Chapter One: The purpose, the meaning and the scope of this thesis.Chapter Two: The study of time system and time adverbs, and the problems that should be solved.Chapter Three: The investigation of short-time adverb "â…©ran" in semantics and syntax. We try to study their internal general characters and differences, then sum up their replacement condition.Chapter Four: The grammaticalization of"â…©ran". According to Grammaticalization Theory, we draw a conclusion of grammaticalization of "â…©ran", and state the general development of "â…©ran ".Chapter Five: The mechanism grammaticalization of "â…©ran" and part of speech of "â…©ran". It is a contentious question to decide The part of speech of"â…©ran", we regard it as an adverb, and "tu ran+noun" is a special usage of"â…©ran".Chapter Six: The conclusion.
