Different Dimensions Of Executive Function And Fluid Intelligence Research

The study was conducted in which 104 participants performed 6 executive function tasks and 2 general fluid intelligence tests(Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices and Cartel's Culture Fair Test). Examined the relationship between three latitude executive functions(memory updating,inhibition of prepotent responses,attention switching) and the general fluid intelligence.Confirmatory factor analysis results indicated that: six executive function tasks have strong loading on the hypothesized constructs, indicating a good convergent validity of the three executive functions, and the correlations between the three executive functions are low indicating a good discriminant validity of three executive, provided a strong evidence for the diversity of executive function.Basing on this result we conducted the confirmatory factor analysis, the result indicated that: inhibition of prepotent responses,attention switching had extremely low correlations, only the memory updating and the fluid intelligence had strong correlations, indicate that maybe the updating memory is the crucial underpinning of general fluid intelligence.Basing on the result we conducted the SEM and the result indicated that: memory updating and attention switching accounting for 49％V of the fluid intelligence, control the influence of attention switching the updating memory accounting for 44％V of the fluid intelligence.
