"Wen Xin Diao Long"radiates endless theory glamour which is worth researching. Lu Xun regards it and Aristotle's"Poetics"as the highest accomplishments of literary theory works respectively in eastern and western world. There is a learned society called"Long Xue"which centers on the research of"Wen Xin Diao Long"and it influences the academic world both home and abroad. Considering poetry is one of the most important literature types in LiuXie's mind, the paper choose his views on poetry as research object. We can see that LiuXie values poetry very highly. But among thousands of research achievements, the part considering on his views on poetry only takes a small proportion. The research on LiuXie's views on poetry is so little that it is not propotion to the importance of poetry in"Wen Xin Diao Long".The paper includes three sections:Chapter One: The nature of LiuXie's views on poetry and the reasons they come forth. Before we put forward LiuXie's views on the nature of poetry, we'll review the recognization of poetry by people before Qin-dynasty,——expressing the poet's will or conveying his emotion——and we'll recall how people understood poetry in Han and WeiJin-dynasty, then we'll analyze the meaning of"will"and"emotion"in LiuXie's mind and discuss the characteristics of his views on the nature of poetry.Chapter Two: LiuXie's views on writing poetry."Gan Wu Yin Zhi"Is LiuXie's generalization of the process of writing poetry. Compare his views with LuJi and ZhongRong's , we can understand the meaning of"Gan Wu Yin Zhi". With regard to the type of poetry, LiuXie believes that poetry should be based on the poet's nature and talent. All these views embody LiuXie's conscious sense of poetic types and show his respect for various poetic types.Chapter Three: LiuXie's aesthetic criteria for poetry. In LiuXie's mind, ideal poetry should combine"FengGu"and literary grace. Netheir to lack FengGu nor to be short of literary grace is the ideal poetry. From the article"Interpretation of Poetry", we can know that the fresh and flowery five character"old style"verse is the poetic style that LiuXie values highly. He also regards the poetic lingering charm to be the persuit of poetry.
