The thesis mainly discusses on the topic of the marriage customs in Chou Dynasty, which is based on the predecessor's research results and literature material. Except the foreword and the conclusion, the thesis "Discussion on The Chou Dynasty Marriage customs" composes of three parts, which is the Chou Dynasty marriage shape outline, the Chou Dynasty wedding ceremony operation regulations, the Chou Dynasty marriage relieving and reestablish.The first part takes the historical document and the predecessor's research results as the basis, and mainly discusses on two aspects from the monogyny to the primitive marital shape.The second part is a systemic discussion on the wedding ceremony, from the necessary condition in procedure to the choice of wedding time and clothing and so on in Chou Dynasty.The third part mainly discusses the marriage relief and reestablishment, and the feminine second marriage question is discussed in particular.Conclusion is drawn from the discussion that: The main form of The Chou Dynasty marriage was primary monogyny with supplement of the multi-concubines, but still retained the primitive marriage like the "Zheng"," Bao","Ying" marriage and so on. The regulations of wedding ceremony operation was very complex, for the nubile age youth, it is necessary not only to get the affirmation of parents of two family, invitation of the matchmaker, regulation of the same surname un-match, but also must defer to the procedures of six rites, such as, do obeisance to father-in-law and mother-in-law, the temple salutes and so on. The wedding ceremony held must conform to the stipulated season and time, but also has the strict stipulation on the marital clothing. Also marital relief and reconstruction reflected the cultural characteristics of the Chou Dynasty. Though the marriage decorum and customs have the negative factors, but its positive significance is noticeable, which has the profound influence on the later marriage customs and culture development.
