Jack London is the typical representation in his times as Forner said. After American Civil War, the second industry revolution rose and developed leading to the fast development of economy, meanwhile, the social classes structure became more and more complicated. But Romantic works still controlled the literary world, and people could not understand the real problems putting 600, 000, 00 Americans into difficulty by such works. But London had a life of frustrations, from a newsboy, mill-hand, smuggler, anti-smuggler police, sailor, tramp, gold digger to prominent writer. In 16 years , he had created 50 works, concerning extremely widespread content involving at that time the social life aspects: The agronomy, the excessive drinking, the astrology, the navigation, the boxing, the wild animal, the keen business sense, the ecology, the economics, the gold rush, socialism, the war, the political corruption, sentence transformation and so on. London was influenced by Marx, Nietzsche, Spenser and Darwin's thought, responding in the works, not only this lets the reader puzzle frequently, moreover, even sometimes London himself also justify oneself with difficulty. But London never devoted his mind to any kind of doctrine, we will discover what London focused on was people's survival condition in the big industrial society, he was inquiring about the trend of human culture diligently. The present paper analyzes the characteristics in London's novels from the view of alienation and the regression. Alienation is not a new topic. But nobody has analyzed London's novels from the angel of alienation. This is just the value of the paper. The present paper is divided into three chapters besides the introduction and the conclusion. The first chacter elaborates the alienation of all kinds of characteristics in detail in London's novels. First, define the concept of"alienation"and evidence of objective alienation and subjective alienation. Next, analyzing objective alienation's character image, according to specific differences, demonstrates such alienation crowds alienated by goods produced by labor, labor, money and status. Once more, explaining the people whose soul was self-alienated under the objective alienation. The second chacter elaborates the ways which of the human nature return in London's novels. Regression is not forced by outsides, but to comply with the conscience, to work according to the natural law, to get along well with the nature harmoniously. London designs three ways for regression. 1. Establishing socialistic society. Since the capitalist system itself had problems, he suggested that human being establish a better and the more perfect social system, as a result, he found the socialism.2. Returning to nature and returning to land. According to different places, it is divided into the northern snow, Southern Sea archipelago, the valley of the moon. 3. Roaming and working. London gave an effective prescription---roaming, to workers under the machine; but for leisure people, he let them get rid of the alienation by laboring. 4. Death. Gloomiest, London lets the characters get rid of the alienation by death to maintain the essence of human nature. The third chacter evaluates London's ways on people's regression. London designs people's ways of regression is not realistic and not feasible. America's socialism is disappointed, there is no such heaven as he described, and roaming life fills with sadness. But it actually gives a spiritual home and emotion habitat for the people in misery, while offering trifle ray of hope in the future in the view of literary value and the esthetic value. But speaking of the ancient form of acupuncture evil of the age, London's Utopia played gadfly's role.
